If you are in Selangor and having a smartphone, I suggest you to subscribe to this SOS application by PDRM. This SOS application is called My Distress.
How to use My Distress?
- Download My Distress and install its application from your mobile phone via My Distress website
- Register yourself by providing a picture of yourself and your email/full name
- In case of emergency, just press HELP button from your mobile phone
- Nearest police station will detect your location via GPS and will instantly go to your location
This service is only available in Selangor for the moment, and will expand its services to other states soon. This is application is for anyone being attacked by robbers or was in a life threatening situation could use the application by taking only a few simple steps, instead of contacting the police hotline (such as 999) which required more time.
However, this is a paid application and charge you only a small amount. PDRM did not make profit from it, instead use it for maintenance purpose. The rate is only RM2 per month. Really cheap isn’t?
